A revolution in metal 3D printing - Cold Deposit and Sinter (CDS)
Defiant3D is proud to introduce our brand new patent pending metal 3D printing technology known as Cold Deposit and Sinter. This revolutionary process was developed to dramatically lower the barrier to entry for metal 3D printing allowing the technology to be used in applications where it was previously cost prohibitive.

At the heart of our printer is a sintering furnace. Capable of reaching the temperature required to sinter metal powder into a solid object. Two powders are deposited into the furnace. The first being the metal powder the part will be made from and the second a support powder. The support powder has some very specific properties however the most important is that it's melting point is far above the sintering temperature of the metal powder.
The powder is deposited into the sintering furnace through the use of several nozzles which are collected and directed by the X-Y axis gantry. The Z axis is within the furnace itself. This provides the 3 axis required to assemble the 3D printed part. Once the layers of powder have been deposited, the furnace is closed and a sintering cycle is initiated. This precision heat process is carried out under vacuum to avoid reaction with contaminants in the atmosphere. |
